মরিয়ম ফুল সম্পর্কে আশা করি অনেকেই জানেন। অত্যন্ত দূর্লভ এই ফুলের উপকারিতা নিয়ে নতুন করে বলার কিছু নেই। শতাব্দীর পর শতাব্দী ধরে এর ব্যবহার হয়ে আসছে আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনের অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ক্ষেত্রে। বিশেষ করে গর্ভবতী নারীদের প্রসবকালীন সময়ে এই ফুলের ব্যবহার একরকম আবশ্যক। ঐতিহ্যবাহী ধাত্রীরা শত শত বছর ধরে প্রসবকালীন সময়ে মায়ের বেদনা লাঘব করার জন্য এই ফুলের ব্যবহার করছেন।

এই ফুলকে হযরত ঈসা আঃ এর মায়ের নাম নামানুসারে, মরিয়ম ফুল বা মরিয়ম বুটি, নবী সাঃ এর কন্যা ফাতিমার নামানুসারে, ফাতিমার হাত বা হ্যান্ড অব ফাতিমা এবং এর বৈশিষ্ট্য অনুসারে পুনরুত্থান উদ্ভিদ বলা হয়। কারণ এই ফুল দেখতে খটখটে শুকনো ও মরা মনে হয়। কিন্তু কিছুক্ষণ পানিতে ভিজিয়ে রাখলেই তরতর করে পাপড়ি মেলতে শুরু করে। অল্প সময়ের মধ্যেই ফুটন্ত ফুলের মতো তাজা আর পরিপূর্ণ প্রস্ফুটিত হয়ে যায়। এ এক আশ্চর্য ফুল। অধিকাংশ নারীই হজ্বে গিয়ে এই মরিয়ম ফুল নিয়ে আসেন। অথবা অন্যকে দিয়ে আনান। এটি সাহারা-আরবীয় মরুভূমিসহ মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে ব্যাপকভাবে পাওয়া যায়। উপাদান এই ফুলে রয়েছে প্রচুর পরিমাণে ক্যালসিয়াম, ম্যাগনেসিয়াম, পটাসিয়াম, দস্তা এবং লোহা। বিশেষত, ক্যালসিয়াম এবং ম্যাগনেসিয়াম একসঙ্গে পেশী সংকোচন নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে এর কোন নেতিবাচক পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া নেই।

বাচ্চা জন্মের সময় ডেলিভারি পেইন উঠে তখন ফুলটিকে ডেলিভারি রুমে কোন খোলা বাসনে কুসুম গরম পানিতে ভিজিয়ে রাখতে হবে (কুসুম গরম পানি না থাকলে ঠান্ডা পানি হলেও হবে, গরম পানি হলে বেশী ভাল)। ভিজালে ফুলটি আস্তে আস্তে ফুটতে থাকবে এবং যার ডেলিভারি হবে তার জড়ায়ুর মুখ খুলতে থাকবে এবং ব্যাথা বাড়বে। যতই ভিজতে থাকবে ও প্রষ্ফুটিত হতে থাকবে আল্লাহ্ তাআলার দয়ায় মরিয়ম বিবির ফুলের বরকতে বাচ্চার জন্ম খুব সহজ ভাবেই হবে। বেবী হয়ে গেলে পানি থেকে ফুলটি উঠিয়ে ফেলতে হয়।এবং এই ফুলের কাজ শেষে পানি থেকে উঠিয়ে রাখলে আবার আগের মত ছোট হয় কারন এটি একাধিক বার ব্যবহারযোগ্য। আর যারা বাচ্চা কন্সিভ করতে চান তারা শেকড় ভিজিয়ে রেখে তার পানিটা তাহাজ্জুদ নামাজের আগে এবং পরে নিয়ত করে খাবেন এবং এটি অবশ্যই ফযরের নামাজ পড়ার আগেই খেয়ে নিতে হবে।
